Asymptomatic Racism: The Silent Contagion of Racism in Us All

SUMMARY - Starting from the biblical motif of sin as sickness, Frank will discuss racism as a public health issue in terms of virology and epidemiology. He will compare systemic racism to a virus such as COVID-19, considering several similarities such as its apparently asymptomatic spread, localized versus systemic effects, and the lytic and lysogenic life cycle. Finally, he will introduce contact theory as one means of defending ourselves from the moral pandemic of racism that has plagued our nation from its inception.

SPEAKER - Mr. Frank Robinson is a husband, father of two children, United States Marine, and prospective medical student. He earned his bachelor's degree at the United States Naval Academy, and has served as a Marine officer for a total of thirteen years, including eight years on active duty, and two deployments in support of combat operations overseas (Afghanistan, and Kuwait/Iraq). He graduated in May 2020 from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with an M.Div., and M.A. in Counseling. Alongside his seminary studies, he completed premedical coursework at Gordon College, Salem State University, and Tufts University.
