Date: Tuesday, November 11, 2025 Time: 7:30-9:30 pm EST (4:30-6:30 pm PST) Speaker: Ryan Bebej (ASA Fellow and Professor of Biology at Calvin University) Title of Presentation: “Introduction to the Science of Evolution: Mechanisms and Evidence of Life’s Transformation” Description of Presentation: This session will provide a comprehensive introduction to the theory of biological evolution, which explains the process by which life on Earth has diversified and adapted over vast timescales. The first half of the lecture will delve into the fundamental mechanisms that drive this change (including natural selection, mutation, genetic drift, and gene flow) and how these forces shape populations over time. The second half of the lecture will discuss different types of evidence for the evolution of life on Earth, using the origin of cetaceans (whales) as a case study to highlight how evidence from fields such as paleontology, comparative anatomy, geology, chemistry, biogeography, developmental biology, and genetics can provide information about the long, interconnected history of life on this planet. Pre-registration: Required for this event. https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/GJskOg9nQw6CMVkH46-SJA Hosts: Brian Greuel – President, Affiliation of Christian Biologists (btgreuel@gmail.com).
