Call for Contributions:

Southern California Christians in Science invites contributed 20-minute talks, posters, and panel discussions. Submissions may address any topic dealing with the intersection between Christianity and science or technology, although talks related to the theme of the conference (The Science, Education, and Christian Practice of Creation Care) will be given special preference.

Contributions from scientists and humanities scholars with expertise in science and religion; undergraduate, graduate, and seminary students interested in exploring the relationship between science and faith; and Christian leaders interested in the role science-faith dialogue plays in the life of the church are encouraged. Submissions should be sent to Tom Ferko of California Baptist University at tferko@calbaptist.edu by Wednesday January 15, 2020. Instructions for Authors of Contributed Presentations

Submissions for the SCCS Winter Day Conference should be sent to Tom Ferko at California Baptist University at tferko@calbaptist.edu by Wednesday January 15, 2020.  Please include ‘SCCS Winter Day Conference Submission’ in the subject line.  Your submission must include:

1) Presenting contributor’s full name, contact information (mail, phone, and email), and, as appropriate, organization and job title.

2) Full names of all co-authors, and if appropriate, their titles and institutions/organizations

3) Preference for a poster, 20-minute oral presentation, or panel discussion.

4) Title and 200-350 word abstract.  All submissions will be evaluated based on their significance, appropriateness for an ASA conference, and intellectual merit.¹

Authors will be notified of the acceptance status of their papers by Wednesday January 22^nd, 2020.

The American Scientific Affiliation (ASA) (network.asa3.org) was founded in 1941 as an international network of Christians in the sciences. Members of the ASA are united by a belief in orthodox Christianity, as defined by the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds and a commitment to mainstream science. The ASA is not an advocacy organization. Where there is honest disagreement on an aspect of science, Christian faith, or the relationship between the two, the ASA strives to create a safe environment in which dialogue can flourish and diverse, even contrasting, ideas can be discussed with courtesy and respect.
