Having a community to learn for each other is wonderful. I am a scientist by training (PhD in Molecular Pharmacology) but pursuing my MDiv now midway through life (while working full time). Seminary is a life-changing experience to say the least. I should have done this 20+ years ago, but God's timing is good and here I am now. I look forward to learning from you all, and give wherever I can.

It deals with the conflict model of faith and science, John Draper & Andrew White's works, and Richard Bube's 7 patterns. I am trying to think through how science and theology ought to interact. I've been comfortable with the Bube's 7th pattern (complementary insights—they say different things about the same things). I am also uncomfortable with his first and second patterns (only one can be right, and the other is subverted/ignored when they disagree). But, if theology is "the study of God and of everything in relation to God" (as I learned in class), then in some way science ought to be part of the theological endeavor, not merely complementary. If that is true, then how can science say different things than theology? God is creator of all, including the "Two Books," so science is not independent of God & his special revelation in that sense, but it does have a different methodology. Are we dealing with two different definitions of theology here? If my thoughts seem confused, it is because they are. Any guidance, wisdom, or pointers to good resources would be appreciated. I am trying to get the paper finished by the end of the year (I got an extension because of a family emergency.) Thanks in advance.

Dr. Zimmerman offered profound insights into the relationship between the soul and body, skillfully integrating philosophical rigor with theological depth. The dialogue among participants further enriched the discussion, highlighting the interdisciplinary value of events like this. Highly recommended for anyone exploring these topics. We are thankful for this second event in collaboration with the Affiliation of Christian Biologists. Information will be shared soon regarding our third event. Thank you all for your interest in the Affiliation of Ministers, Theologians and Philosophers. In Peace and Grace, Rev. Jeremy Hopper, M.Div., M.A. AMTAP -Secretary/Treasurer
