Christian Environmental Worldviews by Janel Curry, ASA President Dr. Janel Curry, President of the American Scientific Affiliation, will present a lecture on "Christian Environmental Worldviews" on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 6:00 pm PT in Latter Hall room 101 at Point Loma Nazarene University.  Abstract: Religious worldviews impact views of nature, such as how people view the relationship among God, humans and nature, and how this affects our responses to climate change and natural disasters.  This presentation presents the elements in religious worldviews that seem to be prominent in shaping religious groups' response to public policy options for addressing environmental issues.
Brief Bio of the speaker: Janel Curry obtained her PhD in geography from the University of Minnesota. She taught at Central College in Pella, IA and at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI in the areas of geography and environmental studies. Her areas of research have included environmental policy, religious worldviews and the environment, and women in leadership. This research has led to over 40 peer-reviewed publications. Meetings are typically an hour with a 30-40 minute lecture and 15 minutes of discussion/Q&A.
