Mostly this is to provide a more up-to-date entry on our local chapter blog.
We had a meeting at Colorado State University in late January and at Colorado Christian University in mid February. In both we showed videos by plenary speakers from the ASA 2017 Annual Meeting at the Colorado School of Mines. Ian Hutchinson from MIT spoke about energy issues, and Katharine Hayhoe from Texas Tech spoke about climate change. These and similar resources are available from the ASA web site.
A unique feature of both of these meetings was that both Ian and Katharine agreed to join the meeting via Skype from their homes after the video for a live Q&A with the gathered audience. Thanks to both for their participation.
Additionally, I was not able to make the trip from Fort Collins to Denver for the CCU meeting. However, I joined via Apple FaceTime for the Q&A time. (I had seen the original presentation and had also recently watched it.) Lynn Billman texted me toward the end of the Q&A to see if I had a question or comment for Katharine (which I did). I did have to have a cooperative person on site who pointed their computer camera at the screen.
Overall, it was a very profitable use of audio/video and network technology that I would commend to others.
