November Meeting Recap

Posted By Micah Forshee, Thursday, June 9, 2022

Location: Zoom meeting

Welcome and introduction

This was our chapter's first time meeting in a few years. We first started by introducing many of ourselves for the first time. Guests were welcomed and encouraged to continue to join with us in future meetings.

Presentation

Rev. Dr. Vicki Campbell gave a talk titled "Can animal pain and death fit into God's good earth?" This was a wonderful presentation full of challenging ideas and thought-provoking evidence. This topic broaches the question of whether pain can intrinsically be something good and of design by God. Our current societal relationship with pain has much room to improve.

Following the lecture, we had a delightful time of questions and discussions among those attending. Pain, though so very often strikingly abundant in our lives, is very rarely addressed in both theological and scientific terms.

Upcoming

Our next event was to be in conjunction with the national ASA organization in a hybrid format with speaker Philip Yancey present virtually.
