“Don’t Miss Upcoming RMASA Events And Other Chapter Opportunities!”

Posted By Lynn Billman, Friday, March 22, 2019

Fellow Rocky Mountain Chapter ASA members –

  1. Check out the Events Calendar -- On the Rocky Mountain Chapter webpage Click Here to view.  There are great lecture/discussion opportunities on faith and science topics on March 28 and April 18 in Fort Collins, on April 4 and May 16 in the Denver area, and on April 5 in Boulder.
  2. Chapter Website -- We are upgrading our Rocky Mountain Chapter website so that we can use it for communicating more effectively with you.  (Thanks, Peter Brissette!)  You’ll always find our RMASA-sponsored events listed there now, and also some from other organizations when the topic involved faith and science.  We will also be adding info on our RMASA Board, and our new RMASA Speakers info.
  3. RMASA Speakers Info – Do you need a speaker on science and faith for a particular event, such as at your church or school?  Or do you know someone who does?  Check out the nascent RMASA Speakers Info here (HYPERLINK).  So far we’re very informal in structuring this information for you, but I know all these people, and they will not disappoint you!  And at this point, our members are simply volunteering, so no speaker fees are necessary (although if the travel is substantial, you should offer them something, of course.)
  4. Are You an Experienced Speaker on Science and Faith?  Best yet, are you available to give an occasional talk on some aspect of science and faith?  This is a valuable service for many of our members. Just send the relevant info to me at lynn.l.billman@gmail.com and we’ll add you to the file.
  5. Want to Host a Colorado Springs Section?  So far we have the Rocky Mountain chapter, which hosts activities in the Denver/Boulder metro area, and its Fort Collins section, which hots activities in the Fort Collins area.  And in the Denver area we have a separate student chapter at Colorado Christian University.  But we have no ASAers active in the Colorado Springs area.  If you want to be the leader for members there, let me know, at the email above.  We’d love to do more outreach to that part of the state.
  6. Planning New Activities – We (the RMASA Board) will be meeting April 12 to discuss activities beyond May 2019.  Do you have ideas for sharing the word about science and faith?  Send your thoughts to me at the email above.

Thanks for being part of our local ASA family!
