We are excited to offer outstanding plenary speakers, over 60 oral sessions, scholarly workshops and fun field trips as well as other recurring meeting elements that our members enjoy.   |   |   | ASA 2023 – Moving Forward Together: The Future of Science and Faith  We hope you will plan to join us for ASA 2023, at the University of Toronto Mississauga! The conference will be Friday, July 28 - Monday, July 31. Pre-conference workshops and field trips will take place on Friday, July 28. Detailed information, including plenary speakers, can be found here. Registration is expected to open in early May.  |  
 
 
  |   |   | ASA Membership Dues On April 3, 2023, the ASA Board of Directors announced a membership dues increase effective fiscal year 2024. This is the first dues increase in 10 years. We thank our members for their continued support toward our goal of being a scholarly and professional society as well as an international community and fellowship of Christians in the interface of vital faith-science questions.       |   |   | Do you work with AI? Submit a poster to our annual meeting workshop. Every week seems to bring new headlines about AI. Are you a scholar, student, or professional who works with in AI or an adjacent field? Submit a poster to our workshop session on AI and Christianity at ASA 2023. We welcome new ideas you are just starting to explore, as well as further developed work. More information or to submit a workshop poster abstract can be found here.

    |   |   | Member Corner ASA member Beth Madison's new book, Good Ground, Volume 2 was released January 23, 2023, while volume 1 was released May 31, 2022. Both books focus on how soil science principles can illustrate Christian living principles for our everyday lives. Both books are from Northeastern Baptist Press and are available directly from the publisher or from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other online book distributors.  |  
 
    |   |   | Member Highlight Member Steven Willing has published Superbia: The Perils of Pride. The Power of Humility. In it, he explores the many facets of pride exhibited in scripture, with additinoal insight and evidence generated over the last 4 decades of research in social psychology. It's written to be entertaining, as well as informative. He addresses topics highly pertinent to the purpose of the ASA, such as, "when does simply being wrong become a moral issue?" The book is available through Amazon here.

    |   |   | Congratulations! ASA Fellow Johnny Lin is the lead author of the textbook, An Introduction to Python Programming for Scientists and Engineers, released last October by Cambridge University Press. The book can be found at Cambridge University Press here.

    |   |   | The Faraday Institute Summer Course The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion will be hosting their summer course entitled, "Science, Faith and Hope for the Future" from July 2–7, 2023. The course will be held in person at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, as well as online. More information can be found here.  |  
 
    |   |   | Movers and Shakers! ASA Member Fred Van Dyke's research team on reforestation of abandoned oil well pads in Michigan was recently featured in a globally distributed YouTude video produced by the UK-based company SciAni (Science Animatino) and can be viewed here. The video is based on recent research featured in the journal Restoration Ecology, the official journal of the Society for Ecological Restoration, designed to answer the question, "How can we restore forests removed at vacated oil drilling sites?"  |

   |   | Way To Go! ASA member Jon Bryan published an article in the July/August 2022 issue of Touchstone entitled, "The Sacred Cosmos: The World of Matter & Spirit United in Praise of Its Creator." It deals with the fundamental issues in the science-faith dialogue (materialism, divine action, etc.) and offers suggestions as to how these difficulties can be resolved by the recovery of the concept of the sacred.    |   | Cheers! ASA Fellow Roy Clouser published an article in the European journal, Philosophia Reformata 87 (2022), 157–77. The title of the paper is, "An Experiment in Thought" and the experiment is to try to conceive of anything as "purely physical." The article can be found here.   |
