1. Climate Change Mitigation from a Biblical Perspective
Description
This Workshop offers Christian scientists and scholars a blueprint and optimism for how we can mitigate anthropogenic climate change in a manner that preserves the life of plants, animals, and humans. Our aim will be to move beyond the abstract overview, and to get into specifics that a lay person can resonate with. This will include talks by several internationally recognized scholars on topics such as:
- Water, Reuse, and Desalination in the midst of flood/drought extremes.
- CO2 conversion to useful carbon products.
- Interfacing with government policy, and what churches, farmers, professionals, and individuals can do.
- Common Sense approaches to Mitigating Climate Change.
- Discussion.
Attendees are able to register to tour the National Renewable Energy Lab at the Flat Irons in the afternoon, and a box lunch is included in the Flat Irons tour.

2. Perspectives and Spiritual Practices for the Scientific Vocation
Description
USC philosophy professor Dallas Willard claimed, “Holiness and devotion must now come forth from the closet and the chapel to possess the street and the factory, the schoolroom and boardroom, the scientific laboratory and the governmental office…with the power and inspiration realized through the spiritual disciplines.” This workshop will help us reflect biblically on the scientific vocation by combining Kingdom virtues for scientific work with meaningful spiritual practices to help us attend to God’s presence. Through discussions and guided exercises, participants will leave with concrete spiritual disciplines to support their life with God through their work.

3. Introduction to the Science-Faith Conversation and the ASA
Description
During this three-hour workshop, we will explore the ways in which science and Christian faith can interact. We will pay special attention to the perspectives of believing scientists and scholars of science regarding how science and faith can contribute to each other. After providing an overview of the science-faith landscape, we will discuss the defining statements and culture of the ASA, which will help attendees maximize their experience of the meeting. Although everyone is welcome, this workshop is designed specifically for those who are relatively new to the ASA, particularly those attending their first national meeting.
