General Information
Registration
The ASA registration area will be in the lobby of Crill Auditorium, Cooper Music Center from Thursday through Monday.

If you are driving, please leave your luggage in your car until after you check-in at registration and receive your housing assignment and keys. There is additional parking available near the dorms/apartments. Lost lodging keys are $30. A campus map can be found here. If you arrive after 11 pm, please pick up your keys and registration information at the security booth as you drive onto campus.
Name Badges
You will receive a name badge and program materials when you register. Please note that this badge is your pass into the various lectures and other activities at the conference. Kindly wear your name badge to all events throughout the conference.
Meals
All meals will be served in the dining room at Nicholson Commons. If you purchased a commuter meal package or the lodging and meal package, you will receive a meal card. Lost meal cards are $25. If you did not purchase either package, you may purchase individual meal tickets in advance at the registration desk.
Meal meet-ups will take place in Nicholson Commons, Cunningham Rooms A and B. Check out the schedule to find a meal meet-up that you may want to attend!
Parking On Campus
Parking on campus is free with a parking pass. If you requested a parking pass when you registered online, you will receive it at the registration desk upon check-in. If you need to request a parking pass, you can do so at the registration desk.
CWiS Dinner
If you have purchased a ticket for the CWiS dinner, please meet at the Brown Chapel shuttle stop at 5:30 pm on Thursday, July 28 to coordinate transportation. Dress is business casual.
Field Trips
Field trips will leave from Brown Chapel shuttle stop. Please note the Torrey Pines group will stop to purchase a self-paid lunch on the way back to campus. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure.
- Torrey Pines Friday, 8:30 am - 1:00 pm (arrive at bus stop 8:15 am)
- Birch Aquarium Friday, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm (arrive at bus stop 1:15 pm)
Workshops
Workshops are on Friday, July 29 and will take place in Latter Hall.

Gala Celebration
The gala dinner will be held at Liberty Station. A shuttle bus will leave from the Brown Chapel shuttle stop beginning at 5:45 pm and return when the event concludes. Please note, it takes about 20-25 minutes for a round-trip so the bus will pick-up approximately 5:45 pm/6:15 pm/6:45 pm. Kindly be prompt so we can transport everyone in a timely fashion.
Dress for the gala is “cocktail attire” – not casual but not formal. Please wear your conference nametags.
Special Activities
Nature Walks: Three walks are open to all registrants.
- Saturday Bird walk led by Doug Zuill - meet in front of the Greek Amphitheater at 6:00 am
- Sunday Spiritual formation guided walk in the tradition of St. Francis led by an Intervarsity staff member - meet at Prescott Prayer Chapel at 6:30 am
- Monday Botany walk led by Dianne Anderson - meet in front of Prescott Prayer Chapel at 6:00 am
- Sports: Volleyball and softball will be played Sunday at 5:30 pm. For volleyball, meet at Hendricks Volleyball court and for softball, meet on the outfield grass of the ballfield. Bring your own glove for softball.
- Independent Reflective Walk: We encourage you to take time for reflection while on PLNU’s beautiful campus. The Prescott Prayer Chapel is available to visit and, if you’re interested in a self-guided audio walk, feel free to pick up a copy of Intervarsity’s Emerging Scholars Network and Faculty Ministry Via Divina: The Franciscan Way, either in the Prescott Prayer Chapel or at the registration desk.
COVID-19 Information
Based on current CDC and State of California guidelines, at this time, we will not be requiring proof of vaccination or a recent COVID test for attendance. If guidelines change, we will adjust our requirements accordingly. Currently, masks are recommended for those with personal health concerns but optional for others. We will offer socially distanced seating, as available. Masks will be available, upon request. We would encourage attendees to bring self-COVID tests in case you’re feeling ill while at the conference. Thank you in advance for your care and concern for each other.
General Information
- ATM machine is located on the first floor of Nicholson Commons.
- WiFi is available throughout the campus (PLNU Guest). You will need to insert your email address and have access for 48 hours at a time.
- Bring a sweater or jacket for the cool early mornings and evenings and for the air-conditioned meeting rooms.
- Linen packages will be found in your room and will contain one pillow, one pillowcase, two bed sheets, one blanket, one bath towel, one hand towel and one wash cloth. Please keep the original bag for your dirty linens at the end of the weekend. If you need additional linens, you will need to bring them with you.
- You will need to bring your own soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and other toiletries. If you wish to hang your clothes, pack some hangers as well.
- If you move any furniture, please be sure to move it back to the original location.
- Please be mindful of cell phone etiquette while attending the conference. Please silence your phones when in sessions and step outside before taking/making any calls.
- PLNU Department of Public Safety (DPS) is on-site 24 hours and can help in an emergency situation. DPS can be reached via phone at 619-849-2525 (emergency) and 619-849-2546 (non-emergency). In a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 directly.
- Checkout is by 2 pm on Monday, August 1. Please be sure to return your lodging keys to the registration table before you leave. Rooms must be left clean with trash gathered and in trash barrels. Linens used by the guest can be left in the guest’s residence hall room in its original bag.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a dress code for ASA annual meetings?
- Saturday night gala: cocktail attire
- Regular sessions: most attendees wear business-casual attire.
- It's a good idea to dress up a little if you're presenting a talk or poster session.
- It's best to bring along active wear for field trips and sporting events.
- It's wise to bring a sweater or jacket for the cool early morning, evenings, and for the air conditioned meeting rooms. There is no air conditioning in the housing.
What is provided in my on-campus room?
PLNU will provide one pillow, one pillowcase, two bed sheets, one blanket, one bath towel, one hand towel, and one wash cloth. Towels provided by university campuses are typically small, so you may wish to bring along an extra towel. Usually, university campuses provide closet space but no clothes hangers, so it's often a good idea to bring two or three clothes hangers if you're staying on campus.
