Finding New Life: How do definitions of life shape both faith and science?

Rev. Dr. Lucas Mix will explore with us the history of the question "What is Life?" with an eye toward its impact on Christianity and modern science.  The presentation will look briefly at Biblical, Aristotelian, Medieval, Mechanical, and Modern definitions, then ask whether they are compatible with our theology and/or useful in the search for new forms of life.  Dr. Mix holds a doctorate in evolutionary biology from Harvard and has spent many years working with the NASA Astrobiology Institute on interdisciplinary communication.  He is also an Episcopalian priest and theologian, currently studying the definition of life at Harvard.
