Our third lecture in the series on Faith & Science will be held at the St. Paul’s Methodist Church (1000 Goad St, Socorro) at 7pm, Thursday, 8 November at St. Paul's church.   Our speaker this month will be Dr. Pace VanDevender who will talk on "Physics & Faith: The Willingness to Find Truth."    Dr. VanDevender received his PhD in Physics from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, England, and is a physicist, a Fellow of the American Physical Society, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, recipient of the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Award for Physics, and Emeritus Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Sandia National Laboratories.   He is currently a Principal of VanDevender Enterprises and is researching if any of three bleeding-edge physics phenomena could become an economically advantageous energy source.   He is or has been a Baptist, Buddhist, Congregationalist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Quaker in his adventures as a spiritual being having a human existence.   He will draw on his research into the energy source for extreme ball lightning and his experiences as a spiritual being to discuss the importance of the willingness to find truth.

Additional lectures and discussions are planned for February, March and April 2013.   For more information or if you would like to get on the e-mail list announcing the lectures, please contact Deb Shepherd (, cell: 575-418-5196).
