"Being Truly Human in a Deepfake World: Christians and Generative AI" Dr Noel Anderson American Scientific Affiliation - Red River Valley Chapter Thursday October 19, 2023 4:30 - 6:00 PM Aldevron Tower Room 150, NDSU or Zoom ABSTRACT Advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) products such as ChatGPT, Bard, Midjourney, and Synthesia have resurrected questions about humans, society, and artificial intelligence. It is increasely difficult to distinguish work generated by computers from that generated by humans. In a growing number of cases, the computer does better than humans. Over the last decade, there has been a surge in using automatically generated AI content to influence people with false information that appears to be genuine, aka "deep fakes". The recent advances have also raised concerns about how the new technology may positively and negatively impact education, work, and church in general. The presentation will start with the creation of humans in the image of God and their unique place in the universe. It will then move on to Christians conforming to the image of Christ while living (eg education, work, and church) in a world of increasingly capable AI. "Living" involves not only us as individuals, but as members of various communities and other groups.
