"Integrating Massive Amounts of Variable Renewable Energy Sources into the Power Grid – How Will It Work?" Monday, March 15 at 7:00 pm MST Be sure to join us for our next Rocky Mountain ASA Chapter online event! RMASA board member Annabelle Pratt will discuss a topic likely to be very important for our future - the challenges that electric power system operators face in integrating massive amounts of variable renewable energy sources. This includes challenges over short and long time frames to enable stable operation with very high instantaneous penetrations of renewable energy, and having energy available over long time scales. Annabelle will also share with us some of her thoughts about how her highly technical work and her deep Christian faith work together. Annabelle is a Principal Engineer for the Power Systems Engineering Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. She specializes in microgrid and home energy management systems (HEMS), and advanced distribution management systems (ADMS). You can learn about Annabelle at https://www.nrel.gov/news/program/2019/qa-with-annabelle-pratt-energy-management-systems.html summarizing a February 2019 interview she gave about her work.
