Brown Bag Lunch with Frank Robinson Join us for one hour over your “lunch break” for a video presentation and live Q&A with Frank. Asymptomatic Racism: The Silent Contagion of Hatred in Us All Thursday, November 19, 2020 - 2:00 pm EST SUMMARY - Starting from the biblical motif of sin as sickness, Frank will discuss racism as a public health issue in terms of virology and epidemiology. He will compare systemic racism to a virus such as COVID-19, considering several similarities such as its apparently asymptomatic spread, localized versus systemic effects, and the lytic and lysogenic life cycle. Finally, he will introduce contact theory as one means of defending ourselves from the moral pandemic of racism that has plagued our nation from its inception.
SPEAKER - Frank Robinson is a new ASA member, a husband, father of two children, United States Marine, and prospective medical student. He earned his bachelor's degree at the United States Naval Academy, and has served as a Marine officer for a total of thirteen years, including eight years on active duty, and two deployments in support of combat operations overseas (Afghanistan and Kuwait/Iraq). He graduated in May 2020 from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with an MDiv, and MA in Counseling. Alongside his seminary studies, he completed premedical coursework at Gordon College, Salem State University, and Tufts University.
