wall: Announcing an inaugural event of the Edmonton CSCA Chapter:
6:30-7:30 pm, Thursday, January 15
at The King's University, 9125 - 50th St. Edmonton, AB
the local Edmonton chapter of the CSCA will be hosting an informal time to meet one another and enjoy refreshments together before we all attend a 7:30 pm lecture at King's by ASA member and Calvin College physics professor Loren Haarsma.
Dr. Haarsma is coming to Edmonton on the invitation of King's and the CRC Campus Ministry. Here is the promo for his talk:
"As archeology and genetics help us learn more about human origins, the issues which generate the greatest discussion among Christians usually cluster around the historicity of Adam and Eve and original sin. In this presentation, Haarsma will summarize both the scientific evidence and the main points of Christian tradition on a number of important theological topics: humans as God's image-bearers, the human soul, and original sin. In the last few decades, scholars have proposed several competing scenarios for harmonizing long-standing Christian doctrines with recent scientific discoveries. Haarsma will describe the proposed scenarios, their areas of agreement, and the theological challenges facing each of them. This is a free public event."
This talk will of interest to many of our members in Edmonton and everyone is encouraged to invite others to join us. The CSCA soiree is being co-sponsored by the U of A campus ministry, Power to Change Students.
